
October 9 is celebrated as a professional holiday of workers of the postal sector all over the world. The main international postal organization - the Universal Postal Union (UPU) was established on this day in 1874.
In connection with the celebration of the professional holiday, Azerpocht LLC of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan is holding a number of preparatory work these days.
Thus, according to the Action Plan subbotniks (day of unpaid work) were held at all post offices of the republic with the aim of improvement and cleanliness.
In connection with the holiday greeting cards were sent to the UPU member states and the leadership of the organization. Greeting messages will also be sent to the veteran-postal workers of Azerbaijan in the given sphere.
On the threshold of the holiday, on October 8, new buildings of post offices, equipped with all necessary equipment will be put into operation in the villages of Ashygly and Shahriyar of Goygol region and in Gushchu and Amirvar villages of Dashkesen region.
On October 9, celebration events on the occasion of 136th anniversary of the UPU will be held at all post offices in the republic. An exhibition of handicrafts will be organized in the administrative building of Azerpocht. In addition, the celebration programme includes awarding ceremony of distinguished postal workers with honorary diplomas.
