Azerbaijan's state budget receives about 2.8 million manat from investigation of tax crimes

The Azerbaijani Taxes Ministry's Preliminary Tax Crime Investigation Department filed 241 lawsuits against individuals and companies for tax evasion, illegal entrepreneurship and other tax-related crimes in January-September of 2010.

The preliminary investigations have finished in 73 cases. Of them - 22 relate to tax evasion, 5 - the illegal business and 6 - the sale of excisable goods without excise stamps.

About 33 cases against 35 tax payers were sent to the judicial authorities for further action. During the investigations, 28 cases were closed after company heads and individuals paid the government the amount due in taxes.

Some 2.8 million manat were transferred to the budget in the reporting period. 13 people were arrested for tax evasion and other tax-related crimes in January-September of 2010.
