
"Number of newborns is expected to increase by more than 160,000 till the end of the year in Azerbaijan, which will be the highest birth rate in the country for the last 16 years,” State Statistics Committee Chief Arif Valiyev said at a press conference today.
“As of October 1, 2010, population in Azerbaijan grew 0.9% to reach 9,077,000 people. Men make up 49% while women make up 51% of the population. Youth makes up 31%,” Valiyev added.
Average life expectancy is 73.5 years. Male life expectancy is 70.9 years while female life expectancy is 76.1 years, Veliyev said.
