Baku schoolchildren awarded for participation in International Children's Exhibition in Lidice

Eleven schoolchildren from Baku awarded medals for their participation at the Annual International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts in Lidice.
The 14-year-old Lala Eyazova from the Gymnasium of Arts was awarded the highest honorary medal "Rose of Lidice" for her work in the category of "Drawing, painting, graphic".

The Annual International Children's Exhibition of Fine Arts in Lidice was founded in 1967 to commemorate the children from the Czech village of Lidice killed by fascists during the Second World War, and all children who died in military conflicts.

Art contest in Lidice is known throughout the world, each year it is attended by children from dozens of countries. The authors of the best works are awarded a medal or a diploma. After that the Lidice Gallery hosts an exhibition of award-winning works.

The Exhibition is organized by the Lidice Memorial with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Physical training, the Czech Foreign Ministry and the Czech Commission for UNESCO.

The contest's themes are annually announces by the United Nations. Theme for 2010 was the biodiversity. The competition is held in four categories: drawing, painting, graphic, photography, ceramics; combined techniques (sculptural works, made from metal, ceramic, wood, glass, textiles and paper).
