Azerbaijani traffic police warns drivers

05 November 2010 [18:50] - TODAY.AZ
The Azerbaijani traffic police have warned drivers against skipping their technical checkups this year. Every year, the country usually requires technical checkups from Jan. 1 to Oct. 31. However, this year, drivers may conduct their checkups even after this period, Interior Ministry Chief Traffic Police Department spokesman Kamran Aliyev told Trend.

"However, in this case, drivers and vehicle owners will be punished administratively for failing to pass their technical checkup (in a timely fashion)," Aliyev said.

The Chief Traffic Police Department called upon vehicle owners and drivers to do their checkups on time.

According to Aliyev, vehicle owners, as well as authorized individuals, must carry out checkups of their vehicles no later than the month indicated on the checkup ticket issued during their 2009 inspection. Vehicles have to undergo their checkup before this date.

Vehicle owners who are physical entities and registered in Baku and the Absheron region can do their state technical checkup at the Chief Traffic Police Department's diagnostic centers on the Khirdalan-Binagadi and Mashtaga highways.

The centers operate every day from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., including weekends.

In order to pass the checkup, a vehicle owner or an authorized person must submit a document granting the right to control the vehicle to the State Traffic Police Department, as well as a registration certificate, compulsory civil liability insurance certificate, and receipts for payment for the fees and taxes imposed by law.
