Azerbaijani Ecology Ministry: Wild animals should not be used for profit

The Azerbaijani Environment and Natural Resources Ministry condemned the abuse of wild animals at leisure centers by keeping them in cages, ministry spokesperson Irada Ibrahimova told Trend today.

"This problem is related not only to irresponsible hunters and restaurant owners who acquire these animals, but citizens also react too mildly to such situations," she said.

A squirrel was seized in a cafe in the Khatai district, as well as two wolves from a cafe in the Hovsan settlement. The animals were released in the Absheron National Park.

In both cases, the guilty parties were prosecuted and fined.
