
Junior Achievement Azerbaijan, in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education, starts the School Business Education Program (SBE) in Sahil and Umid settlements of Baku. Started in October, the program will continue until September 2011, and will provide economic and business education to 940 high school students at the age of 15-17 and train 6 educators on teaching economics, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
The program will benefit six schools in Sahil – schools #253, #273, #228, #319, and boarding school #14 – and Umid school #294. Within the initiative, Junior Achievement Azerbaijan will train 6 teachers from these schools to teach Economics in secondary schools, donate 1,000 Economics textbooks in Azerbaijani, conduct extra-curricular business competitions and entrepreneurship training using the innovative materials and methodology. The program is supported by Garadagh Cement OJSC.
Through the School Business Education Program’s hands-on training and experiential learning activities the students will examine the fundamental concepts of micro-, macro-, and international economics, run school-based companies to realize their business ideas, and challenge their peers through the business management simulation contest.
