The Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry is monitoring the Azerbaijani Oguz and Ismayilli regions' forests to prevent illegal felling of trees, the Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov told journalists today.
"Immediate measures will be taken against forestry workers committing violations," Bagirov said.
According to him, a fact of illegal timber sale was uncovered a few days ago in the Ujar region.
"The fact is under investigation, those committing the felling of these trees will be punished," Bagirov noted.
At the same time, Bagirov said that the number of cases of illegal felling of trees has decreased dramatically compared to previous years. The minister said that this contributes to gasification of many regions.
