11 November 2010 [15:13] - TODAY.AZ
A “drunken tree” has been planted on the Baku boulevard. This high spreading tree has a very distinctive bottle-inflated trunk, for which it is called "drunken tree” (palo borracho) at home - in Argentina.

Deputy Head of the National Seaside Park under the Cabinet of Ministers Nazim Majidov said these trees live to be 300 years old and are distinguished by beautiful and fragrant flowers. They have been delivered to Azerbaijan to landscape the boulevard.

The trees have been planted on the boulevard two days ago and already draw the interest of visitors. Majidov said the boulevard has small number of local old trees with the oldest one aging around 60.

Palms at the age of 80 and 90 years brought from abroad have been planted around the clock tower in the seaside park.
