"I congratulate the Azerbaijani people on the Qurban holiday. I wish them well-being, spiritual cleansing, peace and prosperity," Chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Board Sheikh ul-Islam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade said to the Azerbaijani people in a message this week.
"This holiday completes the Hajj - the pilgrimage to Islamic holy sites," he said. "It once again reminds us of the timeless spiritual values of Islam - justice, mercy, and caring for neighboring people. They always served for peace and prosperity."
He noted that the Qurban holiday represents the high moral qualities of Islam - mercy, kindness, compassion, and love for the motherland.
"Compassion for neighboring peoples in their daily affairs fills this holiday with special meaning and helps us to keep mental clarity and strengthen our faith," he said.
The spiritual leader also wished Muslims everywhere well-being, spiritual cleansing, peace and prosperity.
Qurban (Eid ul-Adha) is a part of the Muslim rite of the pilgrimage to Mecca. It is celebrated in the Mina Valley near Mecca on the tenth day of the twelfth month of the Muslim Dhul-Hijjah lunar calendar and lasts 3-4 days.
