President Ilham Aliyev congratulates Azerbaijanis on Gurban holiday

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev congratulated Azerbaijani people on the holy Gurban holiday, AzerTAc state news agency reported.

Aliyev has conveyed all his best wishes on the occasion of the holy Gurban holiday, which is a symbol of spiritual unity and solidarity of the world Muslims.

"The Islamic religion, which is a majestic page of the world civilization, thanks to its democracy, humanism and universal ideals, has played an exceptional role in shaping our people's worldview, national and cultural development. Azerbaijan has always paid honor to progressive Islamic values and traditions," the President's congratulatory letter reads.

Gurban holiday is remarkable by Islam, the religion given to people as a way to spiritual and moral salvation. In this blessed day, Muslims are living with gladness and pride of getting close to God, with devotion to the divine values, demonstrate willingness to sacrifice for the sake of noble ideas.

Gurban ceremony, which is annually held in Azerbaijan with great solemnity, further reinforce the atmosphere of equality and tolerance in society, becomes a vivid embodiment of national and spiritual solidarity, humanism and brotherhood, the sense of kindness and mercy," the message reads.

"Wishing the prayers offered up for peace and prosperity of our nation and the state, sacrifices to the God to be accepted, I once again convey my sincere congratulations to each of you, all our compatriots living in different parts of the world. Let this important holiday bring happiness to your families, abundance and prosperity to your homes," President Ilham Aliyev's message reads.
