
The "Azerbaijani carpet" art has been included in the UNESCO representative list on intangible cultural heritage of mankind on the fifth session of this international organization's intergovernmental committee on intangible cultural heritage which is being held from November 15 to November 18 in Nairobi city in the Republic of Kenya.
The Ministry of culture and tourism of Azerbaijan allocated this information on its official website.
It is reported that this event has become possible as the result of the taking great care for the national culture by Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev and also arrangements which were aimed to the preservation and propagation of the models of Azerbaijani intangible cultural heritage on the international level and held by the initiative and support of the president of Heydar Aliyev foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, member of the parliament, Mehriban Aliyeva.
At the session of the committee the Azerbaijani delegation headed by the minister of culture and tourism Abulfas Garayev is participating.
In previous years Azerbaijani arts such as mugam and ashuq and Novruz celebration were also included in this Representative list.
