A roundtable meeting on elimination of violence against children has been held in Azerbaijan's Ombudsman Office.

Addressing the event, Azerbaijani ombudsperson Elmira Suleymanova highlighted the progress made in her country on protection of children's rights. She said the Ombudsman Office, which had established relations with UNICEF Office in Azerbaijan, places great emphasis on protection of children's rights in the country.
Suleymanova underlined a law on children's rights, adopted in Azerbaijan in 1998, reflects major provisions of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Head of the UNICEF Office Mark Hereward praised the cooperation with the Azerbaijani government in eliminating violence against children.
