Azerbaijani science and culture week opens in Berlin

The opening ceremony of the Week of Azerbaijani Science and Culture took part in the Konzerthaus Berlin hall. The Konzerthaus Berlin (once called the Schauspielhaus Berlin) is a concert hall situated on the Gendarmenmarkt square in the central Mitte district of Berlin.

Since 1994 it has been the seat of the German orchestra Konzerthausorchester Berlin.

The opening of the Week of Azerbaijani Science and Culture was attended by the outstanding scientists and culture industry workers, politicians, government officials, diplomats, representatives of the Azerbaijan Diaspora.

Rector of the Humboldt University Jan Heinrich Olberz made an opening address at the event. He has emphasized such an events contribute to the strengthening of relations between Germany and Azerbaijan. This Week, according to the rector, will bring a positive spirit to the development of relations between two countries.

Also the speakers included Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Germany Parviz Shahbazov, minister of education of Azerbaijan Misir Mardanov, federal minister of educational scientific research of Germany, Prof. Annette Shavan and Prof. Eva Maria Aukh, who will head the Department of Azerbaijan History at Humboldt University.

The concert featuring the pieces by famous Azerbaijan composers Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Fikret Amirov, Gara Garayev and others in the performance of Berlin Classic Players chamber orchestra was held after the completion of official part of the event.
