
Chief of the Azerbaijan State Committee for Work with Religious Associations Hidayat Orujov has met with Germany`s newly appointed ambassador to the country Herbert Quelle. Orujov highlighted the government`s attention to freedom of religion of citizens.
He underlined “Azerbaijan has always been a tolerant country in terms of religion, and national leader Heydar Aliyev played a crucial role in preserving this tradition, which is today being successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.”
Quelle praised religious tolerance in Azerbaijan, adding “the world community has recognized this fact”.
He stressed “it is a great pleasure to work in the country where tolerance is part of a state policy”.
