Broadband internet penetration rate to reach 22% in Azerbaijani secondary schools

A thousand comprehensive schools of the republic will be connected to Azerbaijani Educational Network AzEduNet, the Education System Informatization Department under the Azerbaijani Education Ministry said.

According to information, the penetration rate of broadband Internet in Azerbaijan's secondary schools will hit 22% of total number of secondary schools by late 2010. Azerbaijani Educational Network AzEduNet cover educational institutions of 45 cities and regions of the country.

According to the Education System Informatization Department's statistics, in 2007-2009 the penetration rate of broadband Internet in secondary schools of Azerbaijan reached 11% increasing by 9%.

Previously each educational institution is carrying out complex preparatory works - standardization of a computer park and software, establishing a local network uniting all computer labs, director's office, teachers' office and library. After that, schools will be connected to the educational network. All technical works are carried out by AzEduNet.
