Top journalists will receive free apartments in Azerbaijan, Executive Director of the Azerbaijani Presidential Media Development Support Fund Vugar Safarli said.
"Mainly leading journalists will be provided with apartments in a building to be built for media representatives," he said.
"The selection will be based on criteria that will prevent documents from being filed by unprofessional journalists."
President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree July 22 to strengthen the social protection of the employees of the press. The decree stated that 5 million manat would be allocated from the Presidential Reserve Fund to improve the living conditions of the press.
Safarli said the project to construct a residential building is underway.
"Only technical issues remain unsolved," he said. "After they are resolved, journalists will be able to submit their applicants."
