Turkey will send soil from the graves of Turkish martyrs killed by Armenians during the 1915 events to Azerbaijan, the Anadolu news agency reported today. The Igdir Union will send soil from three Turkish graves in the Turkish city of Igdir to the Azerbaijani city of Guba to fight Armenia's "baseless claims of an Armenian Genocide."
The soil was given to the Azerbaijani Consulate in Kars for delivery to a mass grave of Azerbaijani genocide victims, who were killed by Armenian nationalists in 1918.
Igdir is located in the east of Turkey on the border with th eNakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that the predecessor of Turkey -- the Ottoman Empire - committed genocide against Armenians living in Anatolia in 1915. Armenians have launched campaigns worldwide to achieve its recognition by parliaments. Turkey has repeatedly called on Armenia to establish a joint commission to investigate the 1915 events.
