Part-time education will not be abolished in Azerbaijan's higher education institutions any time soon.

"Today, I can say that part-time education will not be eliminated in the country's education institutions," Education Minister Misir Mardanov told journalists on Thursday.
However, the number of students enrolled at part-time studies at universities will gradually be reduced, and part-time studies will be replaced by distant learning in future, the minister added.
The concept of distance learning is promoted by many governments thanks to the growing number of Internet users, and improving quality of educational e-resources. U.S. has developed a complete network of educational portals, allowing access to a large number of both paid and free educational resources.
The UK attaches great importance to the formation of the country's image as an international center of innovative projects in education.
The EU leaders also noted the strategic importance of e-learning programs at the European Council's summit in Lisbon in 2000. Part-time education is carried out in secondary schools and tertiary institutions of Azerbaijan in accordance with the Education Act
