
“One of the soldiers captured in spring this year, and the remains of two bodies were handed over to Azerbaijan. The handover operation of one civilian as well as the remains of one soldier’s body was held in the Azerbaijan-Armenia border”, Head of Baku Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross Chérine Pollini said in her interview to the organization’s official website.
She stressed that several similar operations were held with the help of ICRC and said that more than 70 hostages and captives were handed over to the country. Pollini also noted tens of such operations were held without ICRC’s participation.
Head of ICRC’s Baku Delegation answered the question about the operations planned for the exchanging hostages and captives this way: “The negotiations continue and of course we are ready to render necessary assistance. It is very important for the families of hostages and captives.”
Head of ICRC’s Yerevan delegation Nadya Kebir Raoloson said that the organization was engaged in searching the persons, who went missing during the conflict. According to her, about 406 Armenian citizens and 3700 Azerbaijani citizens went missing.
