In 2010, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the country further boosted social protection of retirees and successfully implemented policies to ensure the pension reform, Azerbaijan State Social Protection Fund (ASSPF) said in a statement.

"This year, the state fund fulfilled four orders by the head of the state aimed to boost social protection of labor pensioners. Thus, according to the order "On indexing the insurance part of pensions”, from January 1, 2010, the insurance part of the retirement pensions was raised in line with the consumer price index of 2009. Starting from January 1, 2010, the base part of the labor retirement pension of WWII participants was raised by AZN 30, one-time financial assistance in the amount of AZN 500 was issued to war participants and widows of war participants upon presidential order dated April 22, 2010 and AZN 200 was issued to WWII participants who were awarded orders and medals for their selfless work in the rear. Upon the decree "On raising a basic part of labor pensions" dated September 1, 2010, the basic part of labor pensions increased by 13.3% to amount 85 AZN,” it says in a statement.

Retirement pensions were issued monthly in timely manner during the year.

“The policy of consolidating social protection of pensioners and holding pension and insurance reforms will be continued in 2011. The payments to population will account for 97.2% of the ASSPF’s expenditures,” the fund said.
