The process to release prisoners pardoned by the order of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has started.

Under the order, 92 prisoners were pardoned out of which 20 are serving sentences in special institutions, the chief of Sentence Execution Inspection of the Azerbaijani Justice Ministry Malik Alakbarov said.
According to him, there were four Bangladeshi citizens and two Pakistani citizens among those who were pardoned.
Under the order, 71 convicts have been released from the prison terms that have not been served. Moreover, 15 other convicts with restricted jail term have been released before the completion of their term, while 5 persons imposed to fine were freed from penalty.
The pardoned prisoners also include 41 year-old Guldana Karimova, who had been sentenced by the Gakh District Court on Feb. 2, 2010 to conditional sentence.
Under the 47 pardon orders signed since 1994, 5,029 people have been freed from punishment. Fifteen of them had been signed by Ilham Aliyev and 32 by the late President Heydar Aliyev. Forty thousand prisoners have been freed under eight acts of amnesty that have been signed until now.
