
Seismological stations will be installed in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea this year, director of the Republican Seismological Service Center of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Gurban Yetirmishli said.
He said the center addressed the Cabinet of Ministers and obtained consent of the government.
The Caspian Sea has great strategic importance for Azerbaijan and sources of the main seismic threat to Absheron peninsula and Baku are located in the seismic zones of the Caspian Sea, said Yetirmishli.
“It is important to install seismological stations on the sea to prevent these threats. We are planning to install three stations”.
