A five-storey dormitory in Yasamal district of Baku burst into flames on Friday.

Baku City Prosecutor’s Office has issues a statement regarding the explosion that occurred in a dormitory settled by IDPs in Baku.
Resident of country’s Zangilan region Rahman Jafarov, who lived on the second floor of dormitory, owned by the Azerbaijan Technical University, died of injuries he sustained as a result of explosion of a gas cylinder.
Prosecutor’s Office employees have examined the accident site. The body of the deceased was sent to the Yasamal District Department of Forensic Medical Examination and Pathologic Anatomy Unit for autopsy.
Criminal Case was launched on the fact under article of 124 of Criminal Code.
According to the statement, Jafarov was master and used the gas cylinder which he kept it in the kitchen for technical works. The gas leak caused a gas accumulation in the room and explosion took place when the tenant switched on the light.
Another dormitory residents Safura Bagirova, Vagif Bagirov, Anar Mammadov and Saltanat Huseynova were hospitalized with injuries.

12:31Criminal case has been launched on the blast in the dormitory settled by IDPs in Azerbaijan, inspector of Yasamal district prosecutor’s office Mubariz Asadov told APA.
He said one was killed, seven injured in the blast. Asadov said the blast of the gas cylinder caused the fire. Criminal case has been launched on the fact on article 124 (causing death due to imprudence) of the Criminal Code.
“The investigation is underway. No one has been detained yet,” he said.

10:10The fire was put out by four fire engines. According to Chief of Staff of the State Fire Safety Service Akbar Novruzov, information about the fire was received by the Service at about 18:10. The units of Yasamal state fire safety service were immediately sent to the scene. Taking into account the scale of the fire, additional units were involved to extinguish it.
"The combustible construction in the corridor and one room on the second floor of the fourth corps of the dormitory of Azerbaijan Technical University have burned down," Novruzov said.
The fire was caused by an explosion that resulted from violations of safety rules when using a gas cylinder by tenant Rahman Jafarov at his room.
"As a result, Jafarov was killed and four people sustained wounds. About 300 residents were evacuated from the dormitory after the fire began," he added.
