Azerbaijan to manufacture cosmetics and medicines from weeds

The scientists from Ganja, Azerbaijan's second largesy city, are conducting research to produce cosmetics and pharmaceuticals from weeds growing in the region, correspondent member of the Ganja Regional Scientific Center of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) Fuad Aliyev said at a meeting on the Regional Research Centers' scientific and practical activities.

He said the scientists are continuing research on the isolation of biologically active substances from the weeds to this end, Aliyev said.

Aliyev said the Center last year produced a new type of adsorbents to extract resin from Naphthalan oil and its wastes.

Sheki Regional Scientific Center Director Zakaria Alizade said as a result of many years of experience in the Sheki silk laboratory scientists produced two new hybrid breeding, which have been approved as new varieties.
