
The Azerbaijani Parliament’s Committee on Culture held its meeting on Friday. According to APA, the committee discussed the nominees for the Public Television and Radio Company’s Broadcasting Council.
Committee Chairman Nizami Jafarov said according to the law on public television and radio broadcasting, 6-year mandate of the members of the Public Television and Radio Company’s Broadcasting Council nominated by the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation, National Academy of Sciences and Press Council expires on March 15, 2011.
The committee chairman informed that Agil Dadashov and Ali Jafarov were nominated by the Trade Union Confederation, Mukhtar Imanov from the Academy of Sciences, professors of Baku State University Jahangir Mammadli and Zaur Babyev from the Press Council as the new candidates. They have to be confirmed for the Broadcasting Council for next six years.
The committee members recommended the issue to the parliament’s plenary session after the discussions. The lawmakers also discussed the new drat law on protection and development of mugham in Azerbaijan prepared by MP Rafael Huseynov.
