Azerbaijan State Traffic Police Office calls on drivers not to use Agsu pass

05 March 2011 [14:50] - TODAY.AZ
Traffic has been partially restored on Agsu pass, chief of public affairs department of the State Traffic Police Office Kamran Aliyev said.

He said that heavy snow and frosty weather caused the closure of the highway yesterday. As a result of the measures, sand was spread on a big part of the road and the traffic was restored. Since the dangerous situation has not been eliminated in Aghsu pass Kamran Aliyev calls on the inexperienced drivers not to use these roads and recommends to use alternative routes.

It snowed heavily in Agsu, Shamakha and Ismayilli regions yesterday, this caused serious problems for traffic on Baku-Shamakhy-Yevlakh highway. APA’s local bureau reports that due to the snow, traffic was limited on 14-km Aghsu pass. As it continued to snow, the road was completely closed in the evening. In the aftermath of it, the drivers were obliged to use alternative Aghsu-Kurdamir highway.

Frozen roads in Gobustan and Shamakhy parts of Mughanli-Ismayilli highway and Baku-Shamakhy highway caused problems for traffic.
