
Three are three Russian citizens and an Azerbaijani citizen together with six Georgian sailors on board the "Vasilios N" ship, which left Libya last night, the Georgian Maritime Administration told Trend. Now, the ship is on the Maltese port of Valletta.
The Georgian consul in Italy contacted the sailors in Valletta and will provide them with necessary legal assistance.
The sailors managed to reach the Maltese port without navigational devices, as all of the communications systems on the ship had been destroyed.
Six Georgians, three Russians and an Azerbaijani asked to be evacuated from Libya last week. They said the the port in Misurata has been shelled by heavy artillery.
A storm hit the ship sailing under the Italian flag in April. The ship was on route from Turkey to Libya, carrying 46 tons of cement. The cargo recipient in Libya refused to pay for the damaged cargo.
The sailors remained in the country demanding the payment of their salaries. In December, they appealed for assistance due to a lack of food. The sailors failed to get the money for their work.
