
The "Galisa" dry cargo ship sailing under the Moldovan flag was detained near the eighth berth of the Batumi Port for sea pollution, the Georgian Border Police told Trend.
Employees of the Head Investigation and Operation Department and the Conventional Inspection of Protection of the Black Sea detained the ship. The crew consists of 12 people, including one Russian citizen, five Ukrainians, three Turks and three Azerbaijanis.
Administrative proceedings have been applied toward the ship's captain, Russian citizen Vladimir Mamatkov.
By the Batumi City Court’s decision, the captain was fined 65,000 lari ($1 = 1.71 lari). After paying the fine, the ship will receive the right to free navigation.
