Azerbaijani government approves rules concerning cats and dogs

The Azerbaijani government has approved rules for keeping dogs, cats and other pets at home, the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

Individuals keeping domestic animals are obliged to protect the epizootic security and health of citizens, as well as territorial veterinary controls.

Guard dogs must also be kept in specially designated areas.

Moreover, no individual has the right to mistreat a domestic animal, cause them pain or harm, or release them into the streets without informing the relevant authorities.

The document provides for liability for cruelty to animals.
