02 April 2011 [10:02] - TODAY.AZ
The U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan announced the launching of the SUSI (Study of the United States Institute) for Azerbaijani Student Leaders on Civic Engagement, the Embassy told.

Sponsored by the Embassy and the U.S. State Department Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Study of the United States Institutes (SUSI) for Azerbaijani Student Leaders on Civic Engagement provides opportunities for university students to attend an academic residency program at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH).

"Exchanges between the United States and Azerbaijan are important tools for increasing understanding and collaboration between our countries," said Ambassador Matthew Bryza.

"Recognizing the need to do even more, the Embassy this year is investing an additional $2 million in exchange programs, providing more short-term exchange opportunities for both university and high school students," he added

SUSI is the six-week, non-degree program of education in the USA.

The fellowship provides J-1 visa support, round-trip travel from fellows’ home cities to the host institution in the United States, accident and sickness coverage, tuition and university fees, room and board (housing and meals), domestic travel related to the regional study tour, limited allowance for books, cultural activities, and baggage, and a variety of alumni networking and granting opportunities.

It is administered by IREX, and application information and forms are available at www.irex.az. Applications can also be downloaded from www.irex.az. The deadline for this application is April 22, 2011.
