
The number of foreigners registered in Azerbaijan via individual registration system in the Azerbaijani State Social Protection Fund (SSPF) increased by 4.4 percent in the first quarter of 2011, the Fund reported today.
"The number of foreigners registered in the private registry system made up 10, 631 people as of April 1, 2011," the fund reported.
The foreigners from 92 countries passed registration in the country and the majority of them are Turkish citizens - 6,146 people. The Georgian citizens ranked the second - 1,391 and the Russian citizens ranked the third - 588.
According to the SSPF, in private registry system were registered citizens of Iran - 354 persons, India - 268, China - 145, Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - 120, Ukraine - 111, Pakistan - 94, Malaysia - 80, Kazakhstan - 71, Turkmenistan - 66, Germany - 84, and the U.S. -58, Italy 58 and others.
The private registry system is the organization accounting information on each insured person to provide them pension and other rights in the sphere of social protection in accordance with the laws of their country.
The Azerbaijani President signed a decree on the implementation of the Law "On a private registry system in the state social insurance" in December 2001.
