Prisoners will be allowed to hold labor holiday in freedom following the changes to the Azerbaijani Code of Execution of Punishments.

The Azerbaijani Parliamentary Committee on Legal Policy and State Building discussed the additions and changes to the Code on Tuesday.

Committee Chairman Ali Huseynli said prisoners, who work at the production sites, will be allowed to hold labor holiday in freedom upon the prison’s leadership for exemplary behavior, exemplary work and education.

According to another change, prisoners incarcerated for serious and less serious crimes and those have been transferred from the general corrections facilities to confinement points, will be kept separate from other prisoners.

Under the current law, inmates incarcerated for lesser five years for the unintended offense, are kept together with prisoners transferred from the general corrections facilities.
