Olympic run day held in Baku - PHOTOS

Olympic Run Day was held in the centre of Baku, near the park named after Samad Vurgun on 24th of June. National Olympic and Paralympics committees, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Education, and the Coca-Cola Company, which is global partner of Olympic Movement all over the word, were the organizers of this event. More than 700 people took part in the event. The main purpose of the activity was to promote Olympic movement and healthy lifestyle in Azerbaijan

“This marathon, dedicated to International Olympic Day is organized in Azerbaijan every year and this time, in the year of Sports, the event is even more spectacular. One of the remarkable events in sport life of Azerbaijan is 20 years’ anniversary of Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee. Moreover, I want to mark the fact, that very soon Olympic Games in London will be started. Azerbaijan won 53 licenses and I wish much of success to our participants!”, - said Chingiz Huseynov, Vice-president of National Olympic Committee.

“We are happy for every possibility to support events, that promote healthy and active lifestyle in Azerbaijan, because sport units all of us”, - said Gabil Ahmadov, market manager of the Coca-Cola Company.

After the official opening, performances by music bands, dancers, rollers as well as non-traditional sport dancing were shown. Moreover, special games for children with disabilities were organized. After the run, awards ceremony was held, and the winners received their prizes from Coca-Cola.
