'Important reforms carried out in fields of youth policy and sport in Azerbaijan'

Azerbaijani Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov met on Thursday visiting his Indian counterpart Ajay Maken and his accompanying delegation.

Updating the delegation on the Ministry`s activity, Azad Rahimov said that very important reforms have been recently carried out in the fields of youth policy and sport in Azerbaijan.
He also noted that State Program “Azerbaijani Youth in 2011-2015” envisages construction of Youth Houses in the regions and Baku Youth Center, organization of leisure time of young people.

Mr. Rahimov underlined the operation of 34 Olympic Sport Complexes in the country inviting Indian sportsmen to have training camps in Azerbaijan. He also praised Azerbaijan`s high-level hosting of the international events.

“We are intent to host the European Olympic Games in 2015, which is expected to hold for the first time in the history of the continent, 2016 Chess Olympiad, the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017 and UEFA European Football Championship 2020 and we do our best in the direction of it,” he added.

Ajay Maken, in his turn, expressed his assurance that this visit would contribute the strengthening of cooperation in youth and sport policy sphere between the two countries.
Mr. Maken also emphasized the importance of the inking of cooperation agreement in youth and sports field between Azerbaijan and India.
