Azerbaijani MMA fighters win three medals

Azerbaijan national MMA team has finished 3rd in team standings of the First Open European MMA Championship held in the Ice Palace in St. Petersburg. The European Championship was dedicated to the 15th anniversary of mixed martial arts in Russia.

Azerbaijani athletes won one silver and two bronze medals. Azerbaijani fighter Etigad Atakishiyev in the category of up to 70 kilograms took the second place losing in the final to the Russian Rahman Mahadjiyev of the Chechen Republic, while fighter Taleh Najafzade weighing in at 84 kg and Zaur Hajibabayev up to 93 kg had to be satisfied with the bronze medals of the competition. Russia ranked first, followed by Ukraine.

The event was attended by 100 fighters from 20 countries.
