NOC holds farewell ceremony for Olympians on eve of Paris Games

The Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee (NOC) has organized a farewell ceremony for sportsmen who will participate in the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, Azernews reports.

The ceremony was held to provide moral support to the Olympians on the eve of the Games and increase team spirit.

NOC Vice President Chingiz Huseynzade, who opened the event with an opening speech, wished success to the athletes.

He underlined that sportsmen who received licenses will live up to the expectations placed on them and will proudly raise the Azerbaijani flag. He added that the athletes are expected to achieve a successful result at the Paris Olympics.

After the official speeches, the event continued with an artistic program.

At the Paris Olympics, Azerbaijan will be represented by 48 athletes in 17 programs in 15 sports.

The 2024 Summer Olympics will take place in Paris from July 26 to August 11, 2024.

Paris will become the second city after London to host the Summer Olympics three times.

The Games will feature football, tennis, boxing, cycling, gymnastics, volleyball, weightlifting, basketball, fencing, taekwondo, athletics, wrestling, and other sports, as well as the debut of breakdancing as an Olympic event.
