Azerbaijan joins Eurasian regional association of weightlifting

A declaration on establishment of the Eurasian regional association of weightlifting was signed during an international conference "Development of world heavylifting and fight against dope" held in Minsk.

The document was signed in the presence of President of the International Federation of Weightlifting by representatives of 14 national federations of the Eurasian region including Azerbaijan.

The first competition as part of the association will take place in December in Belgorod – President's Cup.

Chairman of the Supervisory Council of the Federation of the Weightlifting of Russia Alexander Gerasimenko was elected a chairman of the Association while head of the Belarus Weightlifting union Alexander Shpilevskiy a coordinator for the European region.
