Azerbaijani human rights activists hold monitoring in several correctional facilities

Azerbaijani human rights activists Chingiz Ganizade, Saadat Benanyarli, Saida Gojamanly and Novella Jafaroghlu held a monitoring in correctional facilities No 2, 6 and 17, said human rights activist Chingiz Ganizade.
He said the monitoring aims at familiarization with the detainment conditions and prisoners' heath.

Ganizade noted that during the monitoring they held a meeting with nearly 40 prisoners, who said that they are not tortured or abused and they had no complaints about the detainment conditions.

"Several persons complained about the biased investigation, unjust sentences, passed by the courts", said the human rights activist.

Ganizade said that they visited the medical centers of the prisons and inspected the food, served to prisoners and displayed interest with preparations to winter.

The human rights activists met with former Economic Development Minister Farhad Aliyev and editor-in-chief of Azadlyg newspaper Ganimat Zahid.

"They have no complaints about the detainment conditions", concluded Ganizade.
