Some relatives of Ideal newspaper founder Nazim Guliyev arrested

Some relatives of Nazim Guliyev, founder of Ideal newspaper have been arrested, the founder’s brother Ali Guliyev told the press conference held through selector, APA reports.
He said that Nazim Guliyev’s relatives could not come to the press conference, since they underwent pressure and threats. Ali Guliyev said the accusations brought against Nazim Guliyev were groundless, because being the founder he did not interfere with the creative activity of the newspaper.

"The editor-in-chief of the newspaper Ali Hasanov was sentenced to six-month imprisonment. My nephew Karamov Afgan Ilgar was released from the Department to Combat Organized Crimes yesterday at 19.00. My brother-in-law Mammad Azer Agammmad was sentenced to five-day, my office assistant Taleh Musayev to 10-day imprisonment. They are held in the Department to Combat Organized Crimes," he said.

Ali Guliyev said they had received an anonymous call some days before, the caller said Nazim Guliyev had been killed.

"The caller said all the family members would be killed," he said.

Ali Guliyev said they did not contact Nazim Guliyev after he had been arrested, and added that they did not know his whereabouts.

"We do not whether he was killed, or not," he said.

Guliyev also said they had appealed to law-enforcement bodies in connection with the threats.
