Supreme Court dismisses claim of Azerbaijan's former economic development minister

According to Day.Az, the court hearing was chaired by just Asad Mirzaliyev.

Ashurov said that the supreme court dismissed the appeal of his defendant about provision of health protection, provision of medical aid and violation of Farhad Aliyev's rights. The court upheld the decision of the Appellate Court.

It should be reminded that former minister Farhad Aliyev was sentenced for 10 years with property confiscation and deprived of the right to occupy leading positions within five years after serving the term. His brother Rafig Aliyev was sentenced to 9 years under the same provisions.

Aliyev was charged under articles 179.3.1, 179.3.2 (misappropriation), 192.1, 192.2. ( illegal entrepreneurship), 206.4 ( smuggle), 213.4 (tax evasion), 308.2 (abuse of powers), 311.3.1, 311.2, 311.3.3 (bribery) and 313 (forgery in public office) of the Criminal Code.

Rafig Aliyev, brother of the former minister and former chairman of the directors board of Azpetrol Rafik Aliyev is charged under articles 179.3.1, 179.3.2, 188, 192.2.1, 192.2.2, 206.3.1, 206.4, 213.4, 259, 313. The Baku appellate court considered Farhad Aliyev's claim to be unfounded, uphelding the decision of the court of grave crimes.
