Wife of imprisoned journalist of Azadlyg newspaper: "Next provocation is prepared against my husband in prison"

She said Mirza Sakit feels normal and he has no complaints about health.

"Yet a new provocation is prepared against my husband in the correctional facility. Another prisoner for provocation in the colony was placed in Mirza Sakit's neighborhood.

"It is not ruled out that M.Sakit may face charges in libel and abuse for the satirical materials in newspapers, thus prolonging the term of his arrest", said Zahidova.

Journalist's defender Isakhan Ashurov noted that he does not have such information but he promised to take into this issue.

Notably, Sakit was detained on June 23 of 2006 under the charges of drug spread and use. On October 4 of 2006 the Court of Grave Crimes found Mirza Sakit guilty under article 234.1 of the Criminal Code (storage and use of drugs) and sentenced him to three years in prison.
