Azerbaijani parliament adopts act of amnesty by initiative of Mehriban Aliyeva

The Azerbaijani parliament has adopted an act of amnesty by initiative of president of Heydar Aliyev's Foundation, Milli Medjlis deputy Mehriban Aliyeva.
According to Day.Az, the document was adopted by the majority of the deputies. 111 deputies voted for the act of pardon and 1 against.

The draft act of amnesty was submitted by Mehriban Aliyeva to the parliament on occasion of Novruz holiday.

The act of amnesty envisions release of women, who pose no serious threat to the public and who had committed not grave crimes, as well as underage people, first and second category disabled persons, men who reached 60 years old, citizens who have to look for underage children or first and second category disabled children and so on.

Also under the adopted document, women and men who have to serve a year of the overall term of imprisonment, as well as all citizens, sentenced to public works, to fine, with delayed imprisonment term, conditionally convicted persons and so on are also included into the pardon act.

About 9,000 will be affected by the amnesty, of them 1700 will be released.
