Police violence against ANS correspondents

The Yasamal District police officers are reported to use violence against the employees of ANS TV earlier today. The incident took place at 190 Murtuza Mukhtarov when ANS correspondents intended to ask the police officer about the reasons of destruction of one of the buildings in the area. However, the police officer ordered to confiscate a camera and a cassette after refusing to give comments.  Around 30 police officers used violence against correspondents and confiscated the camera and the cassette.

Later police returned the broken camera, the cassete in the meanwhile has not been recovered.

Investigations started in the Interior Ministry with regard to violance by the officers of Yasamal district police department againsit ANS TV workers performing their professional duty. Head of press service of the Interior Ministry Sadig Gozalov informed ANS PRESS that the above-described issue is under controil of the ministry. “Yasamal district police departmen says the contrary of the situation. They blame the journalists for the incident. Therefore the results on the issue will be publicized after investigations”, he said.
