Legal proceedings into case of Turkish 'Buket' ship delayed

Next week the Gagra City Court will consider the case of the captain of the Turkish 'Buket' ship, as well as the ship's crew which includes four Azerbaijanis, Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia Spokesperson Shovgi Mehdizade said.
"The case of the crew will be considered together with the captain's case who was taken into custody and can be sentenced to 3 to 7 years in jail," he said.

There are not complaints from sailors and we always keep contact with them," the official of the Azerbaijani embassy said.

Officers of the Georgian Border Guard Police detained the 'Buket' ship sailing to Abkhazia from Turkey. The crew of the ship consists of 17 persons, of whom 13 were Turkish citizens, and 4 - Azerbaijanis.

The captain of the tanker is accused of multiple violations of the Georgian state border and the violation of the rules of navigation in the occupied territory. The Georgian Interior Ministry reported the ship transported the smuggled 2,000 tons of gasoline and 700 tons of diesel fuel.
