The square at the intersection of Fruktovaya and Zhigulevskaya streets in the Zasviyazhski district of the city where the Heydar Aliyev Monument was erected in 2008 has been named after the Azerbaijani National Leader.

The monument's designer is a well-known sculptor, Sergei Bobrakov, who also designed the Yuri Gagarin monument in Moscow.

The Azerbaijani History and Culture Museum opened in Ulyanovsk in 2008. A special stand in the museum is dedicated to the life of Heydar Aliyev and his family members.

Heydar Aliyev was in Ulyanovsk time and again, including once as the Chairman of the State Commission to deal with the consequences of the "Alexander Suvorov" ship catastrophe in 1983.
