Turkish President decorated with Indian honorary doctorate

Turkish President Abdullah Gul was decorated with honorary doctorate by Amity University in New Delhi, India on Monday.
Speaking in the ceremony, Gul said that education had a great importance in shaping the future in a better way. He added that values such as peace, harmony, tolerance, democracy, human rights and supremacy of law could be learned by next generation only through education.

Gul noted that Asia was very important for the future, adding that Asia would be influential in the 21st century. He said that Asia, with its increasing power and developing economy, had already started to be an attraction force.

Noting that Turkey was located in a problematic region, Gul said that Turkey was taking courageous steps against the problems.

Gul said that Turkey was exerting efforts to take concrete results in solution of problems, adding that contribution to political stability of Iraq, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Lebanon and efforts to refresh peace process in the Middle East as well as initiatives to bring stability to Caucasus were the examples of this approach of Turkey.

Gul said that Turkey considered India as a partner which would increase prosperity and stability on a global level.
