31 March 2010 [13:44] - TODAY.AZ
Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdag visited the Pakistani National Health Institute (NHI) in Islamabad on Wednesday.
Akdag was greeted at the NHI by the Undersecretary of the Pakistani Ministry of Health, Hushmed Akhtar Lashari, and received information on the Pakistani health system and visited several laboratories.

Speaking to the AA after visiting the NHI, Akdag said that Turkey was one of the countries with the best medical system in the category of countries with the identical income.

Turkey spends 400 USD per person per year for medical treatment while Pakistan can only allocate 8 USD per person per year for medical services, Akdag said.

Turkey and Pakistan signed an agreement in 2004. This agreement will facilitate cooperation in human resources, and production of medicines and vaccines, Akdag said.

No one economically disadvantaged in Turkey is left without health care. We are trying to provide health services to all of our Turkish citizens, Akdag also said.

Health Minister Akdag will visit several Pakistani hospitals for burn treatment later on Wednesday.
