21 November 2006 [20:27] - TODAY.AZ
"New standards in gasoline selling, conformation its ingredients to European standards can cause Georgia to stop importing gasoline from Azerbaijan," said Vano Mtvralashvili, head of the Union of Oil Products Enterprisers, Importers and Consumers.

He told APA exclusively that Georgia National Standards for Gasoline-Automobile Technical Conditions for 2004-2005, initiated by the Union and supported by Georgian Government, have twice been suspended. "Application of the new standards will cause stop importing gasoline from Azerbaijani because Azerbaijani gasoline doesn't meet European standards. This will lead to gasoline price rise, failure of SME, frozen commercial relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia," he said.

Vano Mtvralashvili added that Georgia imports between 18 and 20 tons of gasoline and between 20 and 25 tons of diesel fuel a month.

He also said Georgia refused to import A-80 gasoline from Turkmenistan. "The relative density of Azeri gasoline is 50%, European gasoline 42%. Georgia is importing gasoline from Romania, Bulgaria and Greece," he underscored.
