Georgian parliament committee approves Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki-Kars railway deal

Georgian Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee has approved the agreement on Baku-Tbilisi-Akhalkalaki-Kars railway project.

The agreement signed between Azerbaijan and Georgian presidents aims to lend a $200m loan to Georgia to finance the construction and reconstruction of the Georgian part of the railroad linking Azerbaijan to Turkey via Georgia.

Georgia’s Economic Development Minister Georgi Arveladze called the project geopolitical revolution, saying the project has windfall significance amid North blockade, APA reports.

He said the reconstruction works on Tbilisi- Akhalkalaki part of the railway will start.
